John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut announced on Monday that Darryl “King Sincere” Morris of Bridgeport was sentenced to 168 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised probation following his release.
According to court documents, in November 2014, Morris met a 15-year-old girl who was working as a prostitute in New York. Morris proceeded to bring the minor to his home and arranged to have advertisements promoting her prostitution services posted online. The minor then brought the money she made to Morris at his home.
Durham said that Morris also drove the teenager to other locations in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. to see customers. She saw an estimated 10 customers each day from November 2014 to May 2016. Morris also had sex with the girl, beating her for a few weeks after she arrived in Bridgeport.
On May 2, 2016, Durham said that investigators found the teenager at a hotel in East Hartford after she contacted her mother, who called law enforcement. Morris had recently beaten the girl, who had visible scars and signs of physical abuse. She also had a tattoo on her neck with the name “King Sin” underneath a large barcode.
Morris was arrested on Aug. 16, 2016 and has been detained since. He pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking a minor in May last year. In addition to prison time, Morris must also pay his victim restitution of $100,000 which Durham said “is a conservative estimate of how much money the minor victim earned in prostitution when she was with Morris.”
